Home alarm security systems are increasing in popularity each year.

It’s no wonder, because today there is a greater necessity need because of mounting crimes against property.

Home security is not a new business. In fact, it has a very interesting evolution.

In the past many businesses employed watchmen to tour their premises.

Later on, security services were hired by homeowners with large bank accounts to keep their homes safe. Generally patrolmen would make a number of trips by their homes in the late night and early morning hours.

These security personnel would generally make sure doors were locked and they might flash a searchlight around the outside of the home.

That was pretty much the limit of the security provided by these companies.

Next came literal home alarm security systems.

The earliest manifestations of this new technology called for your home to be totally wired. The first generation of these systems would sound an alarm when there was an intrusion.

Or they might send a silent alarm to a central dispatch office. Personnel there would receive the message and call the police.

These systems might have prevented crime — but they were too expensive for the average family!

Today the main piece of equipment used to deter crime is the digital video camera. Because the prices of video cameras have gone down, camera based home alarm security systems can be used not only by the wealthy, but also by those of us who are definitely not affluent.

Digital video cameras come powered by batteries or wired to be plugged into your normal electrical outlet.

Today’s cameras are much smaller than the old cam-corders. Because of their size surveillance cameras are easily hidden.

For instance, a small home security camera can easily be concealed within a smoke detector, inside hi fi speakers, or hidden in an alarm clock. Wired video cameras are a major part of any home security system because they can be set to run continuously or for designated periods when used with a timer.

Wireless security cameras work best for inaccessible and out of the way places. The images captured by these cameras can be watched from all over the world on the internet. How does that work?

It’s a simple procedure. The camera is designed to send images to a local area network, which is then uploaded to an IP address. Log in to the internet, type in the URL for the IP address, and you can see the images!

This is a pretty impressive feature of modern day camera based home alarm security systems. I know a fellow who has a winter ski chalet in Sun Valley, Idaho that he monitors from his living room in Charleston, South Carolina!

These wireless security cameras are activated by motion which is detected by built-in motion detectors. The camera begins recording with the slightest motion.

Wireless systems generally run on 9 volt batteries. A 9 volt battery will usually last for roughly ten hours.

The contemporary security camera records digital images that are transferred to a computer. This digital output can be stored on a hard drive or transferred to a compact disc or stored on any digital data storage device.

Several generations have relied on home alarm security systems.

As new knowledge is developed, costs continue going down. Today home security systems can be used by anyone.

In fact, millions now consider their families and homes are a good deal more secure because they own a home alarm security system.

Possibly you are ready to join them.

If so, you have a vast assortment of highly technical, inexpensive choices of home security systems to choose from!
